The CGPH will begin a monthly brown bag lunch series, highlighting local and international non-profit organizations working in global health. The first lunch will spotlight SSI (Sustainable Sciences Institute), a non-profit founded by Professor Eva Harris of the UCB SPH, that is dedicated to developing scientific research capacity in areas with pressing health problems.

Swine Flu 2009: Are We Facing a Pandemic?

Speakers: Art Reingold, Russell Vance, Wayne Getz and Amy Herr
Join the Berkeley faculty for an impromptu teach-in on swine flu: the virus, its spread, and the likelihood of a pandemic. Panelists will describe the epidemiology and biology of the illness (which is caused by the A/H1N1 virus) and discuss the effectiveness of the U.S. and international response to the outbreak.
